Volunteers Needed: Habitat For Humanity Project

Habitat for Humanity is looking for some volunteers at the Libby Lake Village construction site in Oceanside (4700 North River Road) this Saturday, July 2nd.  The shift is from 8:15 am – 3:30 pm with a half-hour lunch break at 11:30 am.  They are doing general site work. If you’re available to help out, please sign up on Volunteer Up.  You can contact Melanie Petersen Seales via email at volunteerservices@sdhfh.org if you have questions about how to do so.

City of San Diego Internships

If you are studying civil engineering or a related major and are interested in gaining experience in public works engineering and implementation of engineering standards, the City of San Diego has openings for the following unpaid intern positions:

  • Construction & Development Standards Intern
    • This person will assist in implementing regulatory compliance standards and engineering design standards for both private development and public works projects.
  • Asset Management & Planning Intern
    • This person will assist with planning and managing public works projects related to flood control and storm water pollution prevention.

Desired qualifications are:

  • Good communication, writing, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • An interest in establishing a career in civil engineering
  • Minimum 6 hours per week
